This time I’m replacing the fuel pump on my WRX-STI. I remembered that I bought a fuel pump on Yahoo! Auctions over 14 years ago. I rummaged around the house and found it. This was my first time replacing a fuel pump.
今回はWRX-STIの燃料ポンプを交換します。燃料ポンプを外してガソリンを抜いた時に燃料ポンプをヤフオクで14年以上前に入手していたことを思い出しました。家の中をガソゴソ探してみたら出てきました。生まれて初めての燃料ポンプ交換をしてみました。
１ Tools used and costs 使った道具と費用

This time I purchased parts and tools for a total of 4,400 yen.
今回はパーツと道具合わせて4,400円購入しました。
Tools used 使った道具
Ratchet, 8mm deep socket, silicone spray, Phillips head screwdriver, hose pliers

２ This work 今回の作業
The fuel pump can be found by opening the oval lid under the rear seat on the driver’s side. Eight bolts protrude from the fuel tank and are secured with 8mm nuts. Work carefully so as not to break the bolts. To remove the hose, I used the hose pliers I purchased this time. The hose pliers have rounded tips. The force is transmitted around the entire circumference of the hose, so it was possible to remove it smoothly.
運転席側の後部座席の下にある楕円形の蓋を開けると燃料ポンプがあります。燃料タンクからボルトが8本出ていて8ミリのナットで固定しています。ボルトを折らないように慎重に作業します。ホースを外す際に、今回は購入したホースプライヤーを使いました。ホースプライヤーは先が丸くなっています。ホース全周に力が伝わるのでスムーズに外すことができました。
The strainer on the removed fuel pump is completely black. It has been running 110,000 km without any problems. I will replace it now before it breaks.
外した燃料ポンプはストレーナーが真っ黒です。11万キロ、ノートラブルでした。壊れる前に今回交換します。
Comparing the old and new (Yahoo! Auctions) versions, they seem to be almost identical.
旧と新（ヤフオク）を比較します。ほぼほぼ同じようです。
The pump itself (cylindrical part) is larger in the older model.
ポンプ自体（円筒部分）は、古い方が大きいです。
Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the sticker on the lid was different.
よくよく見ると蓋に貼ってあるシールが違うことが判りました。
I’ve come this far so I’ll try replacing it. If I have any problems I’ll put it back.
ここまで来たので交換してみます。何かトラブルがあったら戻そうと思います。
After that, install it in the reverse order of how you removed it. I forgot to take a picture.
あとは外した逆の順序で取り付けていきます。写真を撮り忘れました。
３ Costs up to now 今回までの費用
The total cost was about 42,000 yen, including 37,000 yen last time and 4,400 yen this time. Next time, I would like to lightly clean off 15 years of dirt from the WRX STI.
使った費用は前回までの37,000円に今回4,400円合わせて約42,000円となりました。次回はWRXSTIの15年分の汚れを軽く落としたいと思います。
