For the next step, we will jack up the car and attach a rigid rack. The jack points for the WRX-STI (GC8) are shown in the photo.

　これからの作業のためにジャッキアップしてリジットラックをあてます。WRX-STI（GC8）のジャッキポイントは写真の箇所になります。

１　Tools used and costs　使った道具と費用

I was worried about the old floor jack, so I purchased one this time.

フロアジャッキは古くて不安があったので今回購入しました。

The total was 34,300 yen, or about 34,000 yen. I spent quite a bit.

合計　34,300円　約34,000円でした。結構、使いました。

　

The concrete in the cabin is very uneven because I poured it myself. The floor jack moves slightly when jacking up. This is the first time I’ve learned that it’s dangerous to use it on uneven or soft ground. The iron plate is unnecessary for those who jack up on flat concrete ground.

　山小屋のコンクリートは自分で打設したのでとても、でこぼこしています。フロアジャッキはジャッキアップする際に少しだけジャッキが動きます。デコボコや柔らかい地面で使用するのは危険、ということを今回初めて知りました。鉄板は、平らなコンクリートの地面でジャッキアップする方には不要なものになります。

Also, the arm of the ultra-low jack is short. It is not tall enough for a standard 2-ton jack. I purchased a low-profile rigid rack. This is something you should check when purchasing a jack and rack.

また、超低床ジャッキではアームが短いです。標準の2トンのウマには高さがたりません。低床のリジットラックを購入しました。ジャッキとラックを購入する際にはチェックしてもらいたいポイントです。

２　This work　今回の作業

Apply the parking brake, chock the rear wheels from behind, and lift the car from the front.

サイドブレーキをかけて後輪の後ろ側から輪止めをして、フロントから上げていきます。

The iron plate worked well and I was able to jack it up. I released the hydraulic pressure from the jack to put it on the jack. This was a very nerve-wracking moment.

敷き鉄板がうまく機能してジャッキアップできました。ウマに乗せるためにジャッキの油圧を抜きます。この時がとても緊張します。

The rear is lighter, so it was a little easier than the front.

リアは軽いので、フロントに比べると少しは気が楽でした。

My WRX STI weighs 1,240 kg, so I purchased a 1.5 ton floor jack. It’s better to have some extra weight to work safely. I thought a 2 ton or 3 ton floor jack would be good.

僕のWRXSTIの車重が1,240kgなので1.5ｔのフロアジャッキを購入しました。安全に作業するためには余裕があった方がいいです。２ｔか３ｔのフロアジャッキがあるといいなと思いました。

３　Costs to date and next work schedule　今回までの費用と次回の作業予定

The total cost up to this point was 3,000 yen, so together with this amount, it came to 37,000 yen.

今回までの費用は、これまでは3,000円使っていたので今回分と合わせて37,000円となりました。

I think I’ll be working on it with the car jacked up for a while. Next time I’ll drain the gas that has been sitting there for 14 years.

これからしばらくは、ジャッキアップしたままで作業を進めて行くことになると思います。次回は14年放置していたガソリンを抜いていこうと思います。
